The Fernbrook Curriculum

Key Stage 3:

Students study across a range of National Curriculum subject areas including the core subjects of English, maths and science.  There is also a varied enrichment Personal and Social Development programme allowing a more hands on approach. It includes:

a variety of practical sessions including Judo, cookery, boxing, hair and beauty, mentoring through sport 

Key Stage 4

Pupils who attend The Fernbrook Centre during Year 10 and Year 11 study a varied programme which is personalised and targeted towards their post 16 destination, such as College, FE studies or in work experience.

Post 16

Preparation for post 16 education is organised by the Destinations/Work Experience Co-ordinator who also arranges work placements for Year 10 and Year 11 as block placements or as individual extended work experience. Support and guidance is given to all students post 16 and their continued engagement is monitored and assessed to ensure that progress is maintained.

Destinations include:  New College, Swindon College, Wiltshire College, Apprenticeships, Green Labyrinth, Catch 22

Parent Liaison

Termly reports alongside Parent Afternoons for both KS3 and KS4 are held to enable pupils and their parents to celebrate their successes.  Individual student progress is closely monitored to ensure that the best outcomes are achieved for the pupils and families involved.

We pride ourselves on the excellent relationships between staff and parents.  The support we receive from parents is essential to help pupils succeed.
